get a fatal error on installing Team Explorer

This on Window 10 Enterprise, just upgraded from Windows 8.1 PRO

Office 2016 and SQL Server 2016 installed without problems.

Welcome to MSDN forum.

Please see this similar issue and the solutions from TimVdG, enden, Björn Blissing and other community members looks reasonable.

TimVdG: repair the 2015 Visual C++ redistributables and restart the visual studio installer.

David: Go to Control Panel—Programs and Features and right click the VS 2015 item and select Change-Repair

Have a look at this blog and check the log as described, if you have the same error message in the log, the resolution was to remove the "Studio 5000 View Designer" program from Programs and Features (Control Panel) or running this command from an admin prompt: msiexec /X  <Product Code>

Before your next installation, please make sure Windows update is up-to-date, temporarily disable any anti-virus software, clean up the %temp% folder and run the installer as administrator.
